About

Photographs is one of my old hobby. I have used Nikon FM-10 in the past (film era). After long period I have suspended my hobby, now I just turned to try my new gear into digital era and continue this hobby again. These photos mostly taken by my humble Nikon D-90.
Actually I don’t mind about the camera. The philosophy of  ”the man behind the gun” is more important to me, therefore the camera doesn’t matter. I choose this gear because it’s functionalities are enough for me to take photos, play a little bit with aperture and speed, and easy operational as I familiar with Nikon type. And for family usage it’s has ability to take video even operated by my daughter.

Initially I use standard 18-55 nikkor AF-VR lens. I would like to try using different gear later. I need time & money though :)

About picture style, I like vivid, so you will see a lot of my strong color style – but i would not do that to take people face. Mostly I’d like to take pictures of things, urban view, landscape, and also people expressions.

I don’t like Touchy Post-Production (TPP) image manipulation using any type of image editors. I don’t use any Photoshop versions including Lightroom, or other post-production software like DxO, Photo Mechanic, iPhoto, etc.  Ideally I’d like to produce pictures pure from the camera, as the way it was since the film era.  For some reason, only if needed I have using HDRI (High Dynamic Range Imaging) techniques, the simple one and with default tone mapping without touching the images (image layer masking, blurring, filtering, boost color, etc.). The software I have been using for this are either Paint.NET, Picturenaut or Photomatix Pro, they have minimum facilities of touching images.

The photo digital era has changed the way images have been captured using image sensors like CMOS or other chip types and converted into some file format or raw, the way images are printed in the photo paper, and its portability which is saved in soft copy digital file. All base techniques are the same, but digital will help you a lot more with ‘no film needed‘ and ‘shoot, adjust and re-shoot‘, and all other features and benefits to produce ‘some times better result‘. That features should provide us enough room to play a little bit before the picture has been produced as the final. Even though the digital pictures will not always better than pictures captured by the film.

Touchy Post-Production for me is a different art, probably closer to the digital painting or image manipulation which I do respect to them who are using it to optimize their result.

Some recent photos have story on each one, have a look on my facebook page https://www.facebook.com/sinaumotret if you want to find the words telling its story behind…

So, enjoy some pieces… warm regards from down under…
